Expert summary
Diving refers to the sport of doing acrobatics whilst jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard of a certain height. It is an internationally recognized sport and it is part of the Olympic Games. Non-competitive diving is a common pastime wherever swimming is popular. Scuba diving is swimming underwater or taking part in another activity there, while using a scuba set. Carrying a source of breathing gas, the scuba diver is able to stay underwater than with the use of other breath-holding techniques. Using fins attached to the feet the scuba diver swims efficiently. Some scuba divers move around with the assistance of a diver propulsion vehicle (DPV).
